About Lifemate Veterinary Medical Center

Lifemate Veterinary Medical Center is a hospital that treats animals which have been referred to the Center by their regular veterinarian. If an animal requires emergency treatment at a time when their regular veterinarian’s clinic is not open, the pet owner can contact the Center to arrange an appointment without first obtaining a referral, but please note that we do not always have English-speaking staff available who can handle telephone calls from international pet owners. Also, if you are an international resident and want to visit this center in person, please bring a Japanese-speaker who can interpret for you.

If your pet becomes ill during the daytime, please do not just “wait and see,” in case the pet’s condition suddenly becomes more serious during the night; take the pet to see your regular veterinarian as soon as possible.

Veterinary fees

Lifemate Veterinary Medical Center specializes in providing emergency veterinary treatment; we do not provide regular veterinary services. Please note that different branches of the Center have different fee structures.

Please be aware that fees for emergency veterinary treatment can be very high. You will need to discuss with the regular veterinarian (and possibly with your family members) how much intensive treatment you wish to have performed, and at what stage you should go back to your regular veterinarian for further treatment; please do not hesitate to ask the veterinarian who will be treating your pet for an estimate as to roughly how much the fees are likely to be.

Treatment process

Normally, a referral from your pet’s regular veterinarian at one of our partner veterinary hospitals is necessary in order to receive treatment at Lifemate Veterinary Medical Center.

  1. Making an appointmentMaking an appointment

Your regular veterinarian at one of our partner veterinary hospitals can arrange an appointment for you. Same-day appointments may be possible.

  2. Arriving at ReceptionArriving at Reception

The pet owner and a Japanese-speaking companion arrive at the Center and report to Reception.

  3. ExaminationExamination

The veterinarian will perform various examinations and will decide what treatment to provide after discussion with the pet owner.

  4. TreatmentTreatment

Intensive treatment will be provided, including operations and hospitalization (the Center operates a 24-hour hospitalization system) where necessary, in accordance with the agreed treatment plan.

  5. Follow-upFollow-up

Once the treatment provided by the Center has been completed, follow-up treatment will be handled by the pet’s regular veterinarian. In order to make things as easy as possible for the pet owner (in terms of reducing costs and minimizing the inconvenience of needing to travel to the Center), once the pet is in a stable condition, as far as possible follow-up treatment will be provided by the pet’s regular veterinarian. The veterinarian at the Center who was responsible for providing treatment will provide the pet’s regular veterinarian with a diagnostic report detailing the examination results, the content of the treatment provided, and how the treatment progressed.
